The sweet tasting Miniket rice is parboiled ricethat is a staple of Bengal. The slender rice grains in the husk are parboiled and then de-husked. This type of rice is an ideal for preparing the most famous rice dish called Biryani in both, vegetable and meat/ chicken varieties. As this rice is preboiled, pre-soaking prior to cooking is not required. It is best to wash the rice grains thoroughly before cooking.
